Dear Athlos families,
As you know, we have been constantly monitoring the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Stearns County. The cases are continuing to rise, so we are preparing to move into a new instructional model. Based on feedback from the instructional preference survey sent to families last week, we have determined the best possible model for our school community is as follows:
Learning Model Beginning on Wednesday, October 21, 2020
Students in grades K-4 will move to a hybrid model. Students will attend class on campus on either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. On the days students are not on campus, they will participate in distance learning. On Fridays, all students in grades K-4 will participate in distance learning.
Students will report to in-person learning on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays based on neighborhood.
Due to state guidelines, students in grades 5-8 will move to an all distance learning model. They will take part in pre-recorded lessons as well as live Zoom sessions with their teachers. Schedules for students in grades 5-8 will be communicated by teachers soon.
On Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20, all students will participate in a distance learning model. On these days, students will complete work distributed by teachers and access Reading Eggs and Math Seeds (Grades K-2), and Study Island (grades 3-8) and iReady (grades 6-8).
Transportation
New transportation routes are being created for our hybrid learners. Parents will be sent information this week on location and pick-up and drop-off times.
Meal Distribution
Those students who are in hybrid learning (grades K-4) will have breakfasts and lunches sent home with them on the days they are on campus, for the days they are learning from home.
For our distance learning students, meals will continue to be provided through distribution at the school Monday through Friday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
While we do not have a specific date, we will continue to monitor the numbers of cases in the county and community and will resume full-time on-campus learning as the current situation allows.
We appreciate your patience, support, and partnership as we work to assure we provide the best educational experience for students while also assuring the safety and wellbeing of our community.
