Start-of-School Plans

Dear Athlos families and staff,

Following today’s update from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), we wanted to send an email to update you all on our start-of-school plans.

During today’s announcement, MDE outlined the State’s plan to safely return to learning. They have created a formula for schools to use to determine if students should learn on-campus, in a hybrid model, or through distance learning. This formula is based on positive cases in each county over a two-week period.

Based on MDE’s formula, with current cases in Stearns County, the guidance for Athlos Academy of St. Cloud is to offer on-campus learning to all students. This recommendation can change on a daily basis, as case numbers increase or decrease.

To accommodate the needs of all of our families, Athlos Academy of St. Cloud will offer both on-campus and distance learning to families, as previously announced. We will work closely with MDE and the local health departments to assess the positive cases in the county daily to determine if we need to move to a different learning model. Families continue to have an option to participate in either distance learning or on-campus learning.

We have been working through a plan to safely return to on-campus learning, as well as making improvements to our distance learning program used in the spring. You can find our start of school FAQ at https://athlosstcloud.org/school-opening-faq/. More information and resources will be posted on the school website as it continues to become available.

If you have not yet filled out the commitment form indicating which learning program your child intends to participate in OR if you would like to change the learning program choice for your child, please visit https://bit.ly/AASCreopen.

Finally, please save the date for a virtual back-to-school event on Thursday, September 2. More details will be announced as the date approaches.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions by email at rvetsch@athlosstcloud.org.

Sincerely,

Randy Vetsch
Executive Director
Athlos Academy of St. Cloud
