SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
About Amy Johnson-Weston
Amy is a passionate educator with a Masters in Special Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the esteemed West Virginia University! Before stepping into the classroom, Amy made waves as a community organizer and developer, founding the transformative Promise Neighborhood of St. Cloud and running dynamic youth summer programs through Diversity Thru Colors.
Amy has brought her passion for learning and growth to schools in Preston County, WV, and St. Cloud, MN, determined to help every student uncover their unique path to excellence. “There’s more than one way to do everything,” she says, inspiring her students to embrace their individuality. “The sooner we recognize what works for us and learn to accept ourselves as we are, the further we will go!”
Inside and outside the classroom, Amy radiates optimism and curiosity, constantly asking questions and shining a light on the bright side of life. Her commitment to building positive relationships fosters an environment of personal growth for both her students and colleagues. At Athlos, Amy creates a supportive, knowledge-driven atmosphere where every staff member—teachers, administrators, and beyond—shares a deep investment in the success of their students.
“The adage ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ comes to life here at Athlos,” Amy proudly states. “Every adult prioritizes the students, creating a nurturing community where excellence thrives!”
Favorite Performance Character Trait:
Initiative, Humility & Curiosity
In Amy’s book, curiosity and creativity are a dynamic duo. Curiosity fuels her desire to understand what’s unfolding around her, while creativity invites her to elevate those experiences, transforming them into something extraordinary. She embraces humility as a guiding principle, reminding herself that life rarely offers just one answer to a problem and that true fulfillment comes from collaboration and discovery rather than chasing individual accolades. Together, these elements weave a rich tapestry of understanding and innovation.
