Emily Schmidt
KINDERGARTEN TEACHER
About Emily Schmidt
Emily Schmidt attended The College of Saint Benedict and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in music studies in the Spring of 2016. She then became a substitute teacher before teaching fourth grade full-time. Schmidt has worked as a private music instructor for five years on voice, piano, guitar, and ukulele at The Wirth Center for the Performing Arts.
Schmidt feels her best quality as a teacher are her friendliness and approachability. “It allows my students to feel that they can come to me with any information, which in turn allows for open communication and strong relationship with all of my students!” she said.
Favorite Performance Character Trait: Grit & Courage
“There have been countless occasions as a musician, teacher, and human where I have failed or made mistakes,” she said. “I wouldn’t be half the person I am today if I hadn’t had the perseverance to get back up and try again, and the courage to continue to take risks. A quote that sticks with me is: ‘The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.’”
