Position: Dean of Students

Reports to: Principal

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching and/or school leadership experience; experience as a dean or assistant principal preferred

Job Duties:

• Model the Athlos culture of building community and individuals of strong character

• Oversees day-to-day student behavior support or other various basic needs, working closely with faculty and staff to ensure compliance with school policies

• Serves as a resource in supporting colleagues and students on issues of school culture, classroom management, instruction, discipline, and relationship building

• Serves as a role model for colleagues and students to consistent and high level character traits

• Assists teachers, parents and students in resolving non-academic student issues in the school

• Leads and supervise Supports the implementation of EnVoy and Responsive Classroom strategies within the school, which may include facilitating staff professional development related to school, restorative practices, student engagement, consistent implementation of EnVoy and Responsive Classroom, and social-emotional support for students.

• Communicates with parent/guardians and the community professionally

• Executes school policies, procedures and systems as they relate to behavior management and maintains records of any student disciplinary actions taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and school policies

• Assists with the supervision of student lunch, student movement, managing discipline, counseling students regarding school behavioral issues, and calling parents to process suspension cases compliant with the school’s discipline and suspension policies

• Assists the special education department in meeting the needs of special education students and students who are referred to special education, by using de-escalation techniques, documenting behaviors, observing special education students in classrooms, and assisting special education staff with developing behavior plans as needed

• Maintains knowledge of Middle School instruction and classroom culture interventions and strategies and concepts to best support instructional needs.

• Participates in ongoing professional communication with all stakeholders

• Assist with additional duties connected to school leadership while developing a strong school climate

• Other duties as assigned by the Principal
